Christmas 2007

Xm07before  HamXm07dessert

Over for another year.  So much to ponder going forward into a new year.  I hope all of you had a safe and happy silly season.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my readers, your comments and emails have meant so much to me this year.  I am also grateful to the friendships that I have made via this wonderful blog, some of you, OS I may never get to meet, but it doesn't diminish the joy you bring to my life.  I recieved fantastic packages (Ophelia, you rock) wonderful emails and the most insightful comments at times that I really needed it.

This year I got to meet some local bloggers in person and that really has been a highlight.  Feli, Meshell, Dy, Alicia, Pam, Tea for Bini, Nicole, Yolanda and Jayde, meeting all of you has been such a joy, I can't tell you how much but I think you know :-)

So, to 2008 :-) who knows hey? I think bullet points for now..

  • less commercial TV, it is full of crap.
  • take shorter showers, reduce carbon footprint
  • Get a studio, divide home life from work life

It's late, that will do for now.  Best of luck to all of you who are working on your goals for next year.  Feel free to share!

OMG! I won! I won!

Iwon3Iwon2 Iwon

Earlier this month I entered a contest over on the blog of the incredibly talented Miss Margaux Lange and amazingly I won! I was sooo excited, I have loved her work from a far and now I was about to own my own piece! Today it arrived all the way from New York City.  It was beautifully packaged and wrapped (rewrapped for pics) and is even more beautiful in real life.  I absolutely love it to bits!  Thanks Midge! you rock.

ahhh Christmas

Ahhchristmas What do you do when you are not strong enough to lift on your own?  spend half an hour removing the legs with an allen key!  when I got the table put back together and in the dinning room I discovered that the tressel table in my study would be a better fit... at that point I made a call to my best friend "hey, I have a bottle of wine here for you.. do you wanna come over and grab it and oh, while you are here..." less than sixty seconds after his arrival the table was out the front door with all legs attached and the next table was in!  We then spent 20 minutes arranging the two tables into every possible arrangement and tried out sitting in every chair accompanied by impressions of each guest! ahhh done now.  NEXT!  Hope you planning is going well?

Christmas.. what do you get the man that has nothing?

Protv_voices_of_the_homeless Last night, driving to do some Christmas shopping I spotted a homeless person sleeping under a freeway bridge... it was only 7.30pm and less than 3km from my home in an affluent part of town.  I will be returning after Christmas lunch has been served at my house with a parcel of food from our table and some personal care items like bandaids, antiseptic cream, toothbrush/paste and I think a solar powered radio might be handy?  Any other ideas?  Anyone had any experience with homelessness?  What do you get for the man who truly has nothing? how do you package hope?

rainy wedding..

  Incrediblevenue Heyzues  ThehappycouplePuppylove

Stunning venue, an old limestone quarry, stunning bride, stunning dress, dodgy weather but it didn't really affect the night at all.  Australia is in such severe drought that the rain was a welcome addition!  It did manage to hold off for the brides arrival, the service and the mingling and really only started to come down during the dancing which was under the tent anyway.  I heard the following day over Yum Cha with friends that the limo didn't arrive for the newlyweds so they ended up being piled into a Prado on the laps of the four people already in the back.  When the bride demanded cigarettes on the way to the hotel she was unceremonially ordered out of the car and into the petrol station to get them herself.  This of course provided another photo opportunity with much posing with the station attendant! the party continued on at their hotel and I believe someone crashed in their room for the night.. it was all just like a big party but with catering :-)  very relaxed and lots of fun.  Donedress
Even I was relaxed, I finished my dress two hours before the wedding! it has a singlet style top with a rouched jacket over the top with long wrap around tyes.  I was pretty happy with how it turned out.  Thanks for all the voting :-)
Yes I did cry during the service but held it together pretty well, weddings depress the hell out of me, all that open overt affection and love, hard to take *sigh*.  ANYWHO, I managed three social events over the weekend without ONE single attack of vertigo/spinning/vomitting, yay GO ME! snap all round.  Have a great week everyone!

hmmm

Maybeblack ok, a change of direction.. the weather on Saturday is going to be mild and the wedding is outdoors so something a bit warmer is the go.. I have had this panel for ages, I am going to give it a go.  I will back it with the black jersey that it is drapped over.  A singlet style top, empire line start to the panel and a bubble bottom, I will clinch the waist in with a wide tight black belt.  I hope it isn't going to be too long.. I will also have to get some new shoes, black wedges because it is on grass and spikes sink in :-)  Stand by for more pics.  :-)

getting there...

Stacey2Stacey1

I am scared about cutting the silk sequin... I know I shouldn't be.. I have 6 metres and I only paid $10 for the lot!  but I think it is normal to feel that way?  it is so beautiful I just don't want to stuff it up.. I managed to get the top out of a scap of the metalic fabric which is good because Simplicity size 10 is not a me size 10.. I will have to put a zip in the side to get on and maybe even then it will need vents in the side to fit.. I could of course cut it out again.... :-)  Wish me luck?

Meshell07 Today I received my first Christmas ornament! I am so excited.  This beautiful wool felt sugar cookie is from the wonderfully talented Miss Meshell, thanks so much I love love love it and so does my tree :-)  It even has mini candy canes stitched on to it and it is all hand stitched, so much effort so beautifully done, thanks Meshell, you rock my tree :-)

feeling better thanks!

Tree07

The tree is up.. the decorations are in a box somewhere in my craft room.  Alica and Feli, you have seen that room so you will understand it is easier to make new decorations rather than find them :-)  If it wasn't for the handmade ones I recieved last year in the official and unofficial ornament swaps I wouldn't bother... but I have to have those up again :-)

For those of you interested, my tree is made from a topiary frame salvaged from a verge, covered in more of the pink fabric bought at Megan Salmon and topped with a bright orange painted branch from which I will suspend my decorations when I find them.  Maybe it could have done with being a bit fatter but I really love it.  I wrapped the fabric around and then repeated with a garland of strips tied in bows to hold it all together.  Miss Minnie will be getting her hair dyed to match tomorrow..   Have a great week everyone, I will be making my dress for a wedding on Saturday, wish me luck, I have three backup dresses, so no stress.

Temporarily down...

But hopefully not out for long, I either have Glandular Fever again or my Adrenal Fatigue has flared up due to the stress of the markets or hopefully just a nice temporary virus.  Feel like complete shit and everything has been cancelled, lucky I didn't sign up for the ornament swap.  Joyflea I have a couple of different colourways of that piece.  I will do my best to get them photographed so you can choose.

Hopefully be back soon.  Be well all.

Well, there you go, the story in pictures.  From top left, the crowd stretching down the length of George St East Fremantle, I had no idea it was going to be such a big event, lots of people but nobody with any money.  Next, I think we had the brightest stall! red carpet hot pink cloths, (from the bargain fabric sale) and a green tent, you couldn't miss us. I should have got a pic of the three of us in our aprons! we rocked the tent. Unfortunately there were a lot of jewellery people around us and at the market in general, lots of stuff that didn't look like it was handmade by the stall holders as well which was dissapointing.  I managed to remember to get a pic of me with the stall for once.  Ali spent most of her day in front of her stock trying to stop it fly off the table, it was very very windy.      Thank goodness I pinched four bricks from a building site, it was worth hurting my back getting them into the car.  Next, somebody actually LOOKED at my bags!! I have photographic evidence!!! I had to take the shot, I was talking to the lovely Miss Meshell and Mrs Dy at the time so I had witnesses!!! and no, I didn't sell any :-( strange.  Mrs Dy was also the first to purchase one of the collaboration pendants that I have been working on with Miss Ali, Yay!  This was a strange market in many ways.  The people were really there just to have a nice time and didn't seem to want to shop really.. but I did sell some bag charms, actually I sold quite a few, hardly sold any at Subi.. you just can't pick it.  Next, there was plenty of street theatre which was lovely and the street itself is beautiful, full of old historic workers cottages.  To finish the evening this band went up and down the length of the street, it was great because it made everyone leave so we could finally go home.  It was a long windy day and sales were the worst of all the markets I have done.  Saying that of course I am sure that alot of the stall holders would have been happy to make a few hundred, one poor lady sold one painting all day.  I would have gone home it tears if that was me, poor thing.   *sigh* now I have to unpack the car.... :-) thanks to everyone who came and visited.  Miss Feli and Miss Nana, Miss Meshell and Mrs Dy! it is lovely to have visitors.  We took some great photos! wonderful to see you all in person again.
