April 2008

New market new expectations and attitude...

  Safememt1 Mtc1Mtc2_2

:-) It was a great day.  I was very pushy and instead of waiting and waiting to get the go ahead I just sent an email saying I am coming, see you tomorrow.  That resulted in an email back saying we are not ready but you can come today as a one off while we get ready... So off I went with my great new display, can you see my new shelves?  they are at the back covered in the same pink as the tablecloth.  It was a great morning, as you can see, the place  is full of kids and dogs and happy customers getting their super fresh vegies, fruit, lettuce, fabulous bread, olive oil and flowers.  It is great, there is a couple of organic growers and a lamb man, it is going to be a very successful market.. and they said it couldn't be done :-)
We had a lovely neighbour and a great location right next to the gate, when it rains it turns into a small lake but we were lucky today the weather was perfect.  Stall holders get cheap coffee as well so we had a few to keep us warm, it was cold when the wind blew but I prefer to be cold.

I decided today not to hide from the customers so I set myself up at the front with some pieces wating for wiring so I could say hello to people as they came to browse.  It was great fun and I had a really good time.  My little shop looked wonderful and I think I have almost cracked the perfect set up, I still need to tweak the centre bit where the orange sticks are but I am getting closer all the time.  Yay me :-)

Oh, I forgot to talk about the attitude and expectations.. I went along with VERY low expectations and a bright cheery chatting attitude and it worked a treat.  I was also very happy to see that 95% of people came to the market with lots of their own bags for their goods, it was great.

Off to Market...

Newdisplay

Oh, I had fun today.  I bought some wood and together with some salvaged cedar knocked up these new display shelves for my market stall display.  Tonight I covered them in hot pink fabric to match the table cloth and they should rock tomorrow. VERY excited!  I will do my best tomorrow to remember to take some good shots of it all set up tomorrow.  Wish me luck, I can feel a cold coming on and I am due for a vertigo attack so I am a bit anxious about the whole thing but more excited than anything.  I don't expect great sales at all but I think the venue will inprove in time and for a small fee I have a weekly shop front.  So shop front down, next thing I have to find is a studio to work from.  I can't keep turning the house into a giant messy studio :-)

Better today

Oh I had a fun day today.  Have you ever used the timer on your camera to take pictures of yourself? ten seconds seems like a long time until you have to push the button, throw yourself across the room and pose the way you want in time :-) oh a great way to get the giggles.  The funniest part was when Minnie heard me and decided to she wanted to join in.  I have this idea for a collage and I can't find an image that is quite right so I am shooting one myself, of myself, without laughing.  Try it.

soft and weak...

Cambell2 Cambell

soft and weak Vs Firm and Strong.  My body has become soft and weak.  When I was really sick with Adrenal Fatigue I lost a lot of weight and became drawn and hollow looking.  I am better now but have become soft, flabby and weak.  I tried on four pairs of jeans today and couldn't get the zip done up on any of them to go to the park.. I am not eating that much so it has to be a lack of exercise.  I have never been "fat" when I suck it in and wear the right clothes you won't know, but it's there,  big ugly secret hiding under my clothes and it makes me feel crap.    You don't want to read crap like that.

More experimenting...

Photographing my work..

Ok, I took this at night, in crappy light, using the flash but I think it is interesting enough to persue tomorrow in better light, no? I like the way it gets the side profile front and the back in one shot.  The ball chain also gives scale, I think.  I don't know, what do you think?

I don't know what I need..

I have so much, I know that.  But something doesn't fit or fill, something is not quite right.  I think I need less, would I be happy then?  Work wise, I have sold another piece this week and have 7 more on consignment.  I just don't know.  Maybe I need some of this

Yes, that helped and look I found this

A new month, a new theme

The theme for April is "Hands doing" and I couldn't decide which one to choose so I am posting both.  Ditto on the sky, after recieving a whole months worth of rain yesterday the sky was "true blue" this morning and then produced these amazing clouds.  I had to have them both.

Yes, that is resin in that pick. I know I am suppose to be having a break but I am only making a mold so does that count?  I am photographing the process of making a mold, if they don't give too much away I am going to make a page up explaining/justifying why my work is so expensive by showing how much work goes into the development of a mold.    We will see. :-)
